Aaron Price
Aaron first started flying paragliders back in 2006 with Deimos Paragliding outside of Vancouver, BC in the Fraser Valley. As a bourgeoning mountaineer, paragliding was the perfect complement to his love of mountain hiking and climbing. The prospect of spending a day hiking up a mountain to be rewarded with a surreal flight from the top was just one of the reasons paragliding quickly became his main obsession. His love for the sport allowed him to quickly excel and he was soon jumping off every mountain he could get to, setting up new launch sites and always planning his next adventure.
After 2 years of flying all over the lower mainland of British Columbia, work brought Aaron down to Los Angeles and introduced him to a whole new mecca of paragliding. No longer restricted by winter weather in the Pacific North-West, Aaron's flying experience skyrocketed! With aspirations to compete in World level competitions Aaron managed to connect with the Southern California Cross Country League and was mentored by some of the best pilots in the world. After several years of flying the SoCal XC League and winning the overall award in 2009, Aaron is now running the league for the 2013 season. Further Aaron competes regularly in the Northern California XC League as well as several National level competitions each year. By flying with other competitive pilots Aaron keeps his skills consistently at the top of the field and also continues learning from the best in the world in order to provide the best instruction possible to each of his students.
Aaron reached a major milestone in his flying career in September of 2012 by breaking the California distance record with a flight of 252km, a record that had previously stood for 5 years! The flight was 2 years in the making, researching new launches, routes and weather along the route. Finally after much planning, Aaron and his mentor Dean Stratton tried a new hike up launch near Ridgecrest, CA and flew North all the way into Nevada over the course of 8 hours.
Cheers,
